Position Overview

We are seeking an entry-level engineer to join our team as an Inside Sales Support/Applications Engineer specializing in centrifugal air and gas compressor systems for the oil and gas, power, and air separation industries. As an Inside Sales Support/Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the proposal development process from inception to submission, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of proposals in line with customer requirements and industry standards, particularly API 617 and 672 design code.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 


  1. Proposal Development: Support the proposal development process under the leadership of our Proposal Management team, working closely with cross-functional teams including sales, engineering, operations, finance and our Korean Headquarters staff to gather all necessary information for the proposal.
  2. Customer Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer needs, specifications, and technical requirements. Conduct thorough reviews of customer RFQs (Request for Quotations) and ensure compliance with API 617 and 672 design code.
  3. Technical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of centrifugal air and compressor systems for the oil and gas, power, and air separation industries, particularly in relation to API 617 and 672 design code. Apply this knowledge to accurately estimate project costs, scope, and timelines.
  4. Proposal Writing: Prepare compelling, accurate, and concise proposals that address customer needs, demonstrate the value of our solutions, and highlight our competitive advantages. Ensure compliance with company branding and formatting guidelines.
  5. Cost Estimation and Pricing: Collaborate with the finance and engineering teams to develop accurate cost estimates and pricing strategies for proposals. Analyze project risks and opportunities and develop strategies to maximize profitability.
  6. Proposal Management: Coordinate the proposal process, establishing timelines, assigning responsibilities, and tracking progress. Ensure all proposal components are completed in a timely manner, including technical specifications, drawings, schedules, and pricing.
  7. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of proposals to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with customer requirements and API 617 and 672 design code. Identify areas for improvement and implement best practices for proposal development.
  8. Customer Relationship Management: Engage with customers during the proposal process, addressing their inquiries, clarifying technical details, and providing necessary support to facilitate successful proposal submissions.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, customer needs, and changes in API 617 and 672 design code. Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and efficiency gains within the proposal development process. 


Requirements / Experience 


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Aptitude for proposal management, project cost estimation and pricing strategies.
  • Interest in developing competencies and knowledge of centrifugal air and compressor systems, specifically API 617 and 672 design code.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively.
  • Proficient in project cost estimation and pricing strategies.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple proposals simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build effective working relationships.
  • Proficiency in using proposal management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Bi-lingual in Korean a plus.
  • Office based role in Houston, Texas with hybrid work environment available.

Position Overview

Hanwha Power Systems America is a one of the fastest growing companies in the turbo machinery industry. As a total energy solution provider, Hanwha Power Systems is expanding their business globally pursuing its world-leading technology and commitment to quality.

We are looking for a highly motivated, entry level Customer Service Representative to support our spare parts and service needs in the Americas region for turbomachinery/centrifugal compressor sales. This position directly reports to the AfterMarket Sales Manager.

This is an in-office role that includes technical sales and customer support from the time of inquiry to delivery, requiring correct parts identification, quoting, order confirmation/purchase order receipt, pricing, order processing, expediting, and problem solving. The candidate will be self-driven to handle inbound quote requests from customers across the Americas and drive additional business as necessary. The candidate will be part of an inside sales team and support parts sales locally and across the region as needed. The CSR may be assigned to Special Projects to expand their role and career development.

Responsibilities 


  • Handling inbound customer requests for parts and service and successfully addressing the customers’ needs by identifying the required parts and/or services.
  • Proactively contacting current and potential customers to generate new sales of parts and services.
  • Communicate with Korean headquarters and/or sub-suppliers to obtain price and delivery and maintain inventory levels for local stock.
  • Generate quotes and follow up with customers and outside sales team to ensure quotes successfully transition to orders. Manage these orders to ensure delivery schedule is achieved.
  • Act as key customer contact to provide information to customers on complete sales cycle from quote through delivery. 
  • Target inactive and competitive accounts for conversion. Develop, sell, and convert accounts to recurring revenue service contracts. Utilize parts program to obtain business.
  • Ensure that all paperwork, purchase orders, etc. are maintained to respond to customer inquiries timely and ensure internal process requirements.
  • Prepare all sales and activity reports, presentations, studies and research as requested. 


Requirements

Education 


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. 


Skills/Experience 


  • Entry level position
  • Aptitude for technical sales and understanding the execution process
  • Ability to develop a strong working knowledge of SAP and/or other equivalent ERP or CRM systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization (internal/external), including communication with Korean headquarters 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and investigate for solutions prior to escalation
  • Ability to initiate process improvement for job related responsibilities
  • Capability for prioritization and self-management of job functions
  • Accountability and ownership of assigned responsibilities 
  • Thorough understanding of MS office suite of software, in particular Excel & Power Point.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or Korean a plus.
  • Office based role in Houston, Texas with hybrid work environment available.
